Plants dark red in colour, erect, up to 12 cm tall, attached by small discs; fronds flattened or complanate, dichotomously branched with round or acute apices, 3 - 5 mm broad, constrictions absent (Figs. a, b); thallus multiaxial; utricles interspersed with a few coloured cells, cystocarps scattered, immersed in the thallus (Fig. c), globular to pyriform.
