Plants pinkish red in colour, up to 17 cm in height, attached by basal discs, dichotomously branched (Fig. a); branches regularly deeply constricted; segments of various sizes, elongate cylindrical in some portions, shorter, oblong oval in others, attenuated at the base and rounded above (Fig. b); utricles large, polygonal in surface view, narrow coloured present between the utricles.
