Plants brown in colour, 30 - 35 cm tall, attached by discoid holdfasts, richly branched with primary shoots and secondary branches (Figs. a, b); axes smooth, glabrous, cylindrical, 2 mm in thickness; leaves up to 6 cm long, 0.5 - 8.0 mm broad becoming smaller upwards; linear-oblong margins entire, sub-undulate or sub-dentate apices obtuse, midribs inconspicuous, vesicles small spherical 2 - 2.5 mm broad, receptacles racemose, stalked, verrucose, richly branched, cylindrical and spindle-shaped.
