Proteomics provides an ideal methodological supplement to existing genetic and physiological strategies for the analysis of signaling pathways in plants. The power of the proteomic tools lies in the potential to identify as yet unknown proteins to which no antibodies are available. In addition, the pro-teomic approaches have the potential for relative quantitation between two or more treatments. However, the success of proteomic experiments will to a great extent be dependent on good experimental design in combination with the analysis of specific plant mutants.
