Often, patients who suffer from depressive disorders also have additional medical conditions43 such as anxiety. Major depressive disorder can develop at any age, although it occurs most commonly during the mid 20s. Dysthymic disorder, however, often develops in childhood, adolescence, or early adulthood.25 Depressive disorder is a mental illness that has both mental and physical symptomology and can disrupt every aspect of an individual's life.
