C

C indicates homozygous Columbia allele, and H indicates het erozygous allele.

All plants arc homozygous Columbia at yfg.

If yfg is between markers A and B, plants 1, 4, and 5 would be products of two recombination events.

If yfg is to the left of marker A, plants 1, 3, 4, and 5 are products of two recombination events.

If yfg is between markers B and C, plant 5 is the product of two recombination events.

If yfg is between markers C and D, no plants are products of two recombination events.

If yfg is to the right of D, plants 2 and 6 are products of two recombination events. The position between markers C and D requires the fewest recombination events, so that is the most likely position of yfg.

9. When markers are found that show no recombination with yfg, the map position cannot be further defined without genotyping additional plants. At this point, it is time to plan a strategy for completing the project.
