Characteristics of the phloem and the cortex

Characteristic of the phloem are uni- and biseriate layers of sieve-tubes and parenchyma cells (Fig. 6). Ray dilatations are present. A few small groups of sclereids occur in the cortex (Fig. 6). Many crystal druses fill the parenchyma cells in the phloem.
